The system in detail
The compact body has cruciform surfaces and is carried on compatible aircraft launch rails. The surface-launched SL derivative has a different propulsion and guidance arrangement.1
Diehl describes radar and helmet-sight cueing. Aircraft integration determines which cueing and launch capabilities are available to a particular operator.1
This profile covers the original air-to-air weapon. SLS can use that missile, while SLM uses a developed surface-launched configuration; their ranges are not interchangeable.1
Short-range missile comparisons should include seeker type and integration context. Maximum kinematic range does not describe every target aspect or launch condition.1
IRIS-T equipment records. Variants, orders and quantities are shown as reported in each inventory source; coverage is incomplete.
Lower-bound count for IRIS-T · –. Service scope: equipment of the German Air Force; does not replace a national total. 1 distinct count cell(s) from the same source list; shared rowspan cells counted once. The listed variants/roles are the scope, not an immediately deployable count. The components do not establish one inventory census date; the stored date is the retrieved source snapshot.
